Entrance Exam Description

For international applicants there is usually no standardized written entrance exam. The faculty may run a brief online/interview screening to confirm clinical readiness and English (B2) communication; basic Ukrainian for clinical use is taught during the program.

Program Structure

Theoretical Modules (Core Blocks):

- Principles of Family Medicine & EBM: undifferentiated complaints, red-flags/triage, continuity of care, national protocols/guidelines, quality & safety.
- Public Health & Prevention: immunization schedules, screening (CV, oncological), NCD prevention (HTN, DM, dyslipidemia), lifestyle counseling.
- Population-specific care: women’s health (preconception, antenatal, contraception, menopause), child health & growth monitoring, geriatrics, mental health in PHC.
- Diagnostics & Therapeutics in PHC: rational pharmacotherapy, lab basics, ECG interpretation, point-of-care tests, basics of imaging pathways; antimicrobial stewardship.
- Practice Management & Communication: referral pathways, care coordination, eHealth/EMR documentation, medical law & ethics, ENG/UKR doctor-patient communication.

Clinical Rotations (Supervised Practice):

- Primary Care Clinics: longitudinal management of acute & chronic conditions (cardio-metabolic, respiratory, MSK, dermatology), home visits, preventive care, patient education.
- Focused Ambulatory Blocks: Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology (primary-level issues), Infectious Diseases, Emergency/Urgent Care, Rehabilitation basics.
- Procedural Skills in PHC: vitals & triage, IM/SC injections, IV cannulation/fluids, wound care & basic suturing, abscess I&D, ECG, peak-flow/spirometry basics, vaccinations, POCT.

Overview

This is a postgraduate pathway (typically ~12 months) for international MD/MBBS graduates that blends evidence-based coursework with supervised rotations in primary-care clinics. Trainees build core competencies in undifferentiated care, chronic disease management, prevention, emergency first response, and eHealth/EMR documentation; teaching is in English with progressive Ukrainian for clinical communication. After final attestation, graduates receive a state certificate of primary specialization in General Medical Practice (Family Medicine), supporting onward employment/registration in line with national regulations.

Career Opportunities

After completing this program, students become eligible to apply for a full local Internship in Ukraine in various medical specialties.
This training also improves clinical experience and communication skills, helping graduates feel more confident in real hospital settings.
