Entrance Exam Description

During the selection process we examine the competency of the applicant in two ways:
The faculty decides about the eligibility of the applicant by examining the documents of previous studies (degree, subject, results). This is followed by an entrance exams that evaluate the level of study-language and basic subjects depends on speciality.
The exams can be conducted online. In order to validate the entrant’s person, exams taken remotely are recorded on video, as is the person verification process. The recording is archived for at least five years on University’s grounds and the link to that recording is available in the united base of Ministry of Education of Ukraine.

Program Structure

Year 1 — Foundation of Biology, Chemistry & Biotechnology
Your first year builds a strong scientific base and introduces you to the world of biotechnology.
Main Subjects:
- General Biology – learn how living organisms function at the cellular and molecular levels.
- General Chemistry & Organic Chemistry – understand the chemical basis of biological reactions and drug creation.
- Biophysics – explore physical processes inside cells and biological systems.
- Mathematics & Statistics – essential tools for research and lab analysis.
- Information Technologies in Biotechnology – get comfortable with digital tools used in biotech labs.
- Human Anatomy & Physiology – understand how the human body works and how medicines act inside it.
First gives you a strong scientific foundation and introduces you to the key principles that modern biotechnology is built on.

Year 2 — Core Biotech Skills & Laboratory Techniques
In Year 2, you start mastering laboratory work and understanding how living systems can be used to create valuable medicines.
Main Subjects:
- Microbiology – study microorganisms and learn how they help produce antibiotics, enzymes, and vaccines.
- Biochemistry – understand proteins, lipids, carbohydrates, and how they create life processes.
- Cell Biology & Histology – explore how cells grow, divide, and respond to drugs.
- Genetics & Molecular Biology – learn how genes work and how they can be engineered.
- Analytical Chemistry – gain skills for measuring, identifying, and testing chemical substances.
- Pharmaceutical Botany – discover plants used for medicinal and therapeutic products.
The second year teaches you hands-on lab skills and introduces the fascinating world of microbes, cells, DNA, and biomolecules used in biotechnology.

Year 3 — Applied Pharmaceutical Biotechnology
Now you dive deeper into how biotechnological products and medicines are actually created and tested.
Main Subjects:
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry – learn how medicines are designed, synthesized, and tested.
- Biotechnology of Biologically Active Substances – discover how therapeutic proteins, enzymes, and hormones are produced.
- Immunology & Immunobiotechnology – understand vaccines, antibodies, and immune-based therapies.
- Genetic Engineering & Recombinant DNA Technologies – explore how genes can be modified to produce pharmaceuticals.
- Bioprocess Engineering – learn how biotech production facilities work, from bioreactors to purification systems.
- Pharmacology – understand how medicines affect the human body and how they are used in therapy.
The third year connects science with real pharmaceutical production — you learn how vaccines, therapeutic proteins, enzymes, and modern drugs are developed and manufactured.

Year 4 — Professional Practice, Modern Technologies & Research
Your final year prepares you to become a biotechnology specialist ready for industry or research.
Main Subjects:
- Biopharmaceutical Technologies – advanced study of how biotech medicines are created at industrial scale.
- Quality Control & GMP Standards – learn international pharmaceutical production rules used worldwide.
- Toxicology & Drug Safety Control – ensure medicines are safe before reaching patients.
- Industrial Biotechnology & Bioengineering – explore large-scale production of biological products.
- Internship / Industrial Practice – real laboratory or production experience in pharmaceutical or biotech companies.
- Bachelor Thesis – your own research or development project.
The fourth year brings everything together — you learn industry standards, conduct real research, and gain practical experience that prepares you for your future career.
