Final Academic Council Meeting of the Current Term Held at the University

A meeting of the Academic Council was held at Bogomolets National Medical University. During the session, members approved the Concept for Organizing an Individual Practice-Oriented Educational Pathway for Higher Education Students based at the NMU University Clinic, the Academic Integrity Regulations, and the composition of the Academic Integrity Commission of Bogomolets National Medical University.

The meeting was chaired by NMU Rector Yurii Kuchyn and attended by First Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Postgraduate Education Oleksandr Naumenko, Vice-Rectors Oleh Vlasenko, Rymma Skrypnyk, and Nazarii Kobyliak, Deputy Rector Yurii Bohdan, institute directors, faculty deans, department heads, heads of structural units, and student representatives.

Vice-Rector for Academic and Educational Affairs Oleh Vlasenko presented the Concept for Organizing an Individual Practice-Oriented Educational Pathway for Higher Education Students based at the NMU University Clinic. According to the concept, a competitive selection process and the formation of academic groups among senior students enrolled in the Medicine and Dentistry programs will take place from June to August. Beginning with the new academic year, selected students will participate in a pilot practical training project at the NMU University Clinic and the University Dental Medical Center. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, students will be engaged in clinical practice on a regular basis.

Head of the Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Department Kateryna Hololobova presented several important issues related to the University's research activities. In particular, she proposed the approval of the Academic Integrity Regulations and the establishment of the Academic Integrity Commission at Bogomolets National Medical University. The Academic Council unanimously supported the initiative. Kateryna Hololobova was elected Chair of the Commission, Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation Nazarii Kobyliak was appointed Deputy Chair, and Associate Professor of the Department of Forensic Medicine and Medical Law Ivan Demchenko was appointed Secretary.

The Academic Integrity Commission will serve as the University's authorized collegiate body responsible, in accordance with national legislation, for reviewing reports of academic misconduct, establishing facts of violations, and making decisions regarding appropriate corrective measures.

In addition, the participants approved entrance examination programs for doctoral studies, doctoral dissertation topics, recommended several educational and methodological publications for printing, and adopted amendments to the Regulations on Professional Development and Internships for Academic and Research-Pedagogical Staff of the University.

The meeting also included voting on the conferral of the academic titles of Professor and Associate Professor to scholars from various departments of the University. A special highlight of the event was the ceremonial presentation of certificates confirming academic titles to staff members whose nominations had previously been approved by the Academic Council. Certificates were awarded to:

Oleh Hodyk, Professor of the Department of Pediatric Surgery;
Oleh Petrenko, Professor of the Department of Surgery with a Course in Abdominal Surgery;
Oksana Kravchenko, Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Biochemistry and Molecular Biology;
Vladyslava Kupchik, Associate Professor of the Department of Hospital Obstetrics and Gynecology of Postgraduate Education;
Olha Skrypnyk, Associate Professor of the Department of Medical Psychology, Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy;
Pavlo Chemodanov, Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery with a Course in Abdominal Surgery.

Members of the Academic Council also unanimously supported the nomination of Svitlana Yaroslavska, Acting Head of the Department of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care and Associate Professor, for the State Award of the President of Ukraine — the Order of Princess Olga, Third Class. Following tradition, the Council also congratulated colleagues celebrating milestone anniversaries.

Concluding the meeting, Rector Yurii Kuchyn noted that this session marked the final meeting of the Academic Council during its current term of office. He thanked all members for their active participation, commitment, principled positions, and contributions to the University's development throughout the past five years. He also announced that next month the University will hold elections for a new composition of the Academic Council in accordance with current legislation.
