Since October 12, Bogomolets National Medical University (NMU) has continued its educational process in a blended learning format, combining online education with in-person practical training and elements of asynchronous learning. The University has also optimized class schedules to minimize travel between locations across Kyiv.

This was announced by NMU Rector Yurii Kuchyn during an interview with Kyiv TV.

According to the Rector, ongoing attacks on the capital require flexible learning arrangements. The University has identified the practical components of the curriculum that cannot be fully mastered online, allowing students to develop essential clinical and practical skills under the supervision of academic staff at a time that suits them and takes the security situation into account.

“This means that students can complete their practical training now, in a week, or even in the spring,” Yurii Kuchyn explained, noting that a similar approach was used during the COVID-19 pandemic for subjects requiring clinical settings or simulation facilities.

Some students continue to attend classes in person. Shelter-equipped facilities in the University's Morphological and Physicochemical buildings can accommodate more than 2,000 people. The University also provides in-person training at its University Clinic and Educational and Research Center for Medical Simulation. During air raid alerts, students undertaking clinical training move to shelters located within healthcare facilities.

The University has also taken measures to prepare for possible power and heating disruptions. Its main buildings have been equipped with generators since 2023, while an autonomous boiler house on the student campus provides heating and supports hot water supply.

Despite the challenging security situation, Bogomolets National Medical University continues to adapt its educational process to support students' academic progress and practical medical training.
